Minimum Order Value

Minimum order value (MOV) is the lowest basket total a customer must reach before an online order can be placed, or before a service such as delivery becomes available. Grocers often set different minimums for delivery and pickup, or for different delivery zones, to keep each order economical to fulfill.

Why it matters

A well-chosen minimum protects margin per order and encourages shoppers to add items, raising average order value. Set too high, it can turn away first-time customers. Review it regularly against fulfillment costs and conversion data, and set it per store or zone where costs differ.
